Boarding

Boarding Information

"Simply put, the finest boarding facility and staff I have ever used." D.Smith

Mission
All of us at Coastal Animal Hospital are dedicated to caring for your loved ones as we would care for our own. We want to provide the most comprehensive, detailed-oriented boarding experience possible so you can relax and have peace of mind your pet is resting comfortably and securely. Your pets will be walked frequently and monitored on a virtual hour by hour basis. The kennel staff takes great pride in the cleanliness of the kennels and encourages prospective boarders to take a tour. Coastal Animal Hospital also provides medical boarding for those pets that have special medical needs or require continuous medical monitoring. If you have any questions or special requests feel free to ask one of our friendly receptionists. We look forward to becoming a part of your extended family. Experience the Coastal difference in unparalleled boarding care.

We kindly request that you call prior to your visit or vacation to make a boarding reservation for your pet. We will gladly accept short notice or same day reservations, but these slots are usually quickly filled. You will need a credit card number to hold the reservation. Your card will not be charged unless you do not show for the reservation and have not cancelled within 48 hours of your scheduled arrival date. If you cannot reach a staff member on the phone you may leave a message on voice mail and your card will not be charged.

Note* During The Holiday Season
We recommend booking your reservation at least 3 months in advance because our boarding facilities fill quickly. Remember, cancellations must be done at least 48 hours before the day of arrival or your credit card will be charged for the reserved time.

Boarding Exam
There is a boarding exam/new record fee for all new patients and/or patients that have not been seen within the past 12 months. This is for the safety and well being of your pet and the pets in our kennel. All pets checking into our kennel must be flea and tick free, or we will give them a medication to kill any ectoparasites to prevent them from being introduced into the kennel.

Our runs measure 3x6, are all indoors and are thoroughly cleaned a minimum of twice daily. We have a separate cattery for our feline guests. Both the cattery and kennel are climate controlled and kept at a temperature betwen 70-72 degrees year-round. We have a large fenced-in, grass back yard. Our boarders are leash walked outside a minimum of 3 to 4 times daily. Additional playtime or special requests (ie. teaching to sit or stay, throwing a tennis ball, etc.) can be requested at an additional fee. Click the Hospital Tour link to view pictures of our facilities.

Classical music is playing throughout the day and night... we find it soothing for our guests & patients. If you would like to listen to what your pet is listening to, go to www.TheClassicalStation.org.

Food / Bedding
You can either bring your own food or use ours at no additional charge. We feed Purina EN to all our boarders which is an easily digestible gastrointestinal diet . Bedding is also provided, so you do not need to bring any, unless you prefer your pet to have a special bedding item. Comforters and blankets are standard in all our runs to provide your pet maximum comfort while away from home.

If your pet is on any medication you should bring them in their original containers. If your pet has any medical conditions or special needs make sure to inform the recptionist at time of check in to ensure a safe and happy stay.

Vaccine History
You will need to bring proof of your pet's vaccine history. This must include:

Canines - a Rabies and DHLPP vaccination within the last 12 months and a Bordetella vaccine (Kennel Cough vaccine) within the last 6 months.

Felines - a Rabies vaccine and FVRCP vaccine within the last 12 months.

Save time and visit our New Clients Page to print and fill out forms before arriving. Note* If your pet is geriatric or has special needs these conditions may be waived with signed authorization from your veterinarian.
