Specializing In Compassionate Veterinary Care
Your Coastal Animal Hospital family wants to take a moment to share the steps we are taking to keep our staff, clients and patients healthy during this time. Coastal Animal Hospital in Kitty Hawk and Buxton remain OPEN and operating under regular business hours. - All staff are washing their hands after every exam/patient/client interaction, and sanitizing if unable to immediately wash. - All surfaces, handles, light switches, pens, keyboards, etc. are thoroughly disinfected throughout the entire day. - We are ensuring all staff members who are working are healthy, and don't have members of their households who are currently sick.
What we ask from you -
As schools and daycares begin to close, we unfortunately may need to run with a smaller crew, so we ask for your patience during this time, as our time needed for medication refills, phone calls and appointments may temporarily increase. We appreciate your flexibility if we do need to change our appointment schedule during the next couple of weeks. If you have an appointment, and you or anyone of your household is currently sick, or you have been out of the country within 14 days of your appointment, we ask that you please call us to reschedule. If your pet is sick and needs to be seen more urgently, please call us to discuss other options, such as having a friend, family member or neighbor bring your pet in for you. We will offer “curbside service” for prescription and food pick-ups if necessary. You may call ahead to pay over the phone and a staff member will bring the products to your car. For those clients who wish to minimize social interaction, we will offer drop-off appointments. Please call ahead for details and scheduling. We will continue to closely monitor the guidance from the CDC and local authorities regarding limiting the spread of the virus to ensure that the actions we are taking are comprehensive and appropriate. Any changes will be communicated on this page. With your help, we will continue to be here for all of our clients and patients, and are looking forward to putting this behind us!
Thank you and stay healthy!

Coastal Animal Hospital's deep commitment to all of God's creatures extends beyond mere words and is demonstrated by our non profit, Coastal Canine Hope, which was formed in 2004. This foundation accepts local, unwanted dogs on a case by case basis. Once admitted into the program, Coastal provides any medical and surgical care at no cost and houses them until they can be adopted. To date, over 30 dogs have been placed in loving new homes. This effort is funded by the hospital, doctors and staff as well as donations from the public.
Coastal Animal Hospital is also known locally for its treatment and rehabilitation of injured wildlife at no cost. We have cared for everything from bald eagles and ospreys to opossums and turtles.
